Adult Gyrfalcon

I first saw this gyrfalcon from the parking area at Minneconjou Bay. I walked up
the hill trying to get closer but flushed a sharp-tailed grouse and the gyr took
off after it.
A few minutes later I saw the gyr on another fence post about 1/4 mile south. I
drove over there and as I was trying come up with a plan the gyr flew right over
the top of me.
It then flew way out and landed here.
From there the gyr went up
and started soaring. I watched it soar and circle out of sight over the Cheyenne
River embayment and north into Dewey County.
