Idaho and the Bitterroot Mountains
August 9, 2019
Yesterday I realized I was in the limited range of the Red-tailed
Chipmunk and in the right habitat of high elevation spruce forest. So I
went out to find some and had no problem with that, but the species is
arboreal and somewhat difficult to photograph well. The photo above demonstrates
how the species was named for the reddish underside of the tail.

I got one more decent photo of an Evening Grosbeak before leaving Jeff and
Cara's place.
