A Chickaree in the Sierra Nevada
September 23, 2014
This is an animal I've always wanted to see.
The Chickaree, aka Douglas's Squirrel, aka Tamiasciurus douglasii,
indigenous to the Pacific Northwest and Sierra Nevada.
I didn't plan to take time to look for one but when I stopped for a break, there
was this one. However, it was
very difficult to get a shot. These things are fast, don't sit still very long,
and very nervous.
It would stop, I'd get focus and just about to shoot, when off it goes.
There it goes again.
Finally something to slow the Chickaree down. It was in the
shade, but
this is the only good shot I could get of this fast moving squirrel.
