Whimbrels, Peregrines, and some other bird

Trinidad to Arcata and the north jetty

I guess the best shot I've got so far of a Parasitic Jaeger,
not very good but they don't come in close to shore.

I found more Whimbrels this morning, finally with some decent
light.
More Whimbrels. I was trying to get closer to a flock of Whimbrels and
Long-billed Curlews, when suddenly they flushed with alarm calls.
It wasn't me, it was this guy, a juvenile Peregrine Falcon.
These young Peregrines aren't very
experienced, once it blew the first surprise attack it tried to catch a curlew.
It looked grim for the curlew at first.
Evasive tactics.
The Peregrine Falcon may be the fastest bird in the world, but only in a dive.
The curlew got away. I guess terror has its advantages.
