Dark Morph and Rufous Morph Ferruginous Hawks
Fort Pierre National Grassland, Richland-Sheriff dams area.

I saw this dark morph Ferruginous Hawk yesterday, but couldn't get close enough
for good images. This image was taken at about 500 yards. Viewed through my
spotting scope, I couldn't see any trace of the reddish-rufous plumage of a
rufous morph.
Juvenile Dark Morph
Today, I went out to look for the dark morph and instead found this juvenile
rufous morph. I got a little closer, but not close enough for really good
images.
