Comet C/2015 V2 (Johnson) in the constellation Bootes
May 23, 2017

Last night it was clear with no wind and no moon for the first time in a long while. It didn't last long, clouds started
rolling in around 1 AM but there was enough time to get this comet. I've imaged Comet C/2015 V2 (Johnson) before (see my Comets page), but it is much brighter now. It is supposed to be bright enough to see in binoculars but so far I've been unable to pick it out.

Canon 500 f4, Canon 7D MII, f4.5 @ ISO 3200, twenty-four one minute exposures stacked in Deep Sky
Stacker, processed in Images Plus and Photoshop. Deep Sky Stacker has a comet stacking function that works pretty well, one stack for the stars and one for the comet, then combining the two images into one with both comet and stars sharp.
