Some Photos from Cave Creek Area, Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona (and other places)
September 15, 2019

On my way to Cave Creek, I did something I have long wanted to do, stop in and see the Barringer Crater west of Winslow.
It is one of the best examples of a meteor crater on Earth. Created about 50,000 years ago by a meteor estimated to
be 150 feet in diameter and traveling 29,000 mph (about 8 miles per second), it blasted a hole in the earth's crust
three quarters of a mile across and 600 ft. deep. One thing I did not know, this is a privately owned attraction, I thought it
was federal or state property. The visitor center was well done and scientific, so it was worth it, not the typical tourist trap.
With a 35 mm lens, I took 8 photos and stitched them together for this photo.

A Green-tailed Towhee photographed during breakfast, 1/25 second shutter speed, handheld.

While walking through the campground this morning I saw a female Painted
Bunting, I think this is the first one I've seen in Arizona.

I went back to the canyon where I found the Blue Curls and took more photos
with my macro lens. It was getting kind of windy and that made it difficult.

Another photo of a Blue-throated Mountain Gem, I like the perch in
this image. Soft morning light.
