Some Photos from Ajo, Arizona
October 13, 2019

To those who have been following by travels this summer and fall, you may remember I was
excited to photograph some Evening Grosbeaks in Montana. This afternoon I had
one here at the Ajo Country Club! Very unusual for this area. I think at least
three birders from Tucson are coming out in the morning to look for it.
This one is a nice male in full winter plumage, nice looking bird and very tame.

Odd bird #2. A Lewis's Woodpecker somehow wandered out here into
the Sonoran Desert and ended up on the palm trees at the golf course.

Another Western Banded Gecko I found a couple of days ago.

Northern Mockingbird getting a drink.

This Spotted Sandpiper was at the pond at the golf course and let me get very close.

Nice light on a Say's Phoebe.

A Bell's Sparrow, another bird that is quite rare in this area.
I seem to find one or two every winter though. My first
Bell's Sparrow and a discussion can be seen at this LINK.
