Photos from Madera Canyon and West Turkey Creek, AZ
April 30, 2020

A lifer butterfly, Arizona Metalmark. Not much to look at, but it is still nice to see something new.

A Veined Ctenucha Moth on a thistle.

Here's my latest life bird (for the ABA area north of Mexico, now at 602). A Crescent-chested Warbler, one
of two or three that are being seen in West Turkey Creek in the Chiricahua Mountains.

Crescent-chested Warbler. Very difficult to photograph due to the difficulty of just
finding them, then getting close enough, and as usual in forest situations, the light is usually pretty
bad. These are very active birds and tend to stay high in the trees.

On the way back I stopped at the Wilcox ponds and found this
White-faced Ibis close to the road, but with the harsh mid-day sun it isn't that great.
