Last night I took a night hike to the top of Child's Mountain, hoping to
find a Rosy Boa. I didn't get a boa but I did get a lifer snake, a Western
Lyresnake.
Elliptical pupils.
The species is named for the lyre shaped pattern on the head.
Western Lyresnake. They are known to wait at the entrances to
bat roosts and catch bats out of midair as they fly out. This one is too
small for that, but I like smaller snakes, they are much easier to handle.
M101, the Pinwheel Galaxy. Still adding exposure to this. It is starting to look
pretty good.
