Alamo Canyon, Organ Pipe Cactus National
Monument
October 29, 2017
I went to Alamo Canyon looking for Red-backed Whiptails but found a couple of
Clark's Spiny Lizards instead. That's OK, I need photos of this species too.
Very similar to the more common Desert Spiny Lizard but has dark bars on the
legs. This one is a female.
Eye of the lizard. I really like my 100-400 zoom lens (the one that quit auto
focusing) but now that I'm carrying the 500mm f4 around again, I realize how
much sharper it really is. It is still heavy.
Male Clark's Spiny Lizards have blue throats and bellies, but females can show
faint blue there too.
I'm not sure about this one, maybe a female maybe a male.
