My long sought after Chiricahua White. This is a female, the
males are black and white. I only saw one male and it did not land.
This is a species of butterfly that is only found in the
mountain ranges of south-east Arizona or in Mexico.
It is a highly sought after species, especially the females.
My best shot of the dorsal surface of the wings. I took all of these
with the 500 f4 lens. I will sure be glad to get my 100-400 zoom fixed!
It was a long hike up steep trails to get to this location
and I will probably have to go back tomorrow.
A male Montezuma Quail on the road into the campground. Very poor light.
