only at a few springs in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
This is a rare plant in the desert but more common elsewhere.

My lifer butterfly, Howarth's White. I had photographed this species on December
19 but thought it was a Checkered White and deleted the photos. After
discovering that this was actually a Howarth's White, I had to recover my photos
from the recycle bin! Howarth's White is a species found only in Mexico in
Sonora, Sinaloa and the Baja California. It is found regularly in the United
States only at Quitoboquito Spring in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, where
the larval food plant, Desert Caper, is found.
