Photos in the Ajo, AZ area.
December 22, 2017

I have no idea what the Air Force launched, but it was spectacular! I was
outside setting things up when a huge bright light formed in the northwest then
slowly rose into the sky and arced over Child's Mountain and Ajo.
By the time I got my Sigma 35mm out and set up and figured
out what settings to use, this is what I saw. Wish I could have got it from
launch to finish. Maybe they will fire another one
now that I'm ready for it. These are frame filling shots with a full frame
camera at 35 mm. Huge! Child's Mountain is in the center, lights from the radar site are on top.

UPDATE:  Here's what it was, click the LINK.

Here it is arcing over the north part of Ajo. Child's Mountain is on the right
side, where the lights from the radar site can be seen.

A Hutton's Vireo in Alamo Canyon, apparently a first for the CBC.
I've seen them there before, but not on the CBC.

NGC 2403, a galaxy near the Big Dipper. This galaxy is only 8 million light years away.
The atmosphere must have been turbulent, there should be more
detail in this, I was not very pleased with the results.

This is the Little Dumbbell Nebula. I feel like a dumbbell for
even trying this, it is very tiny. It is a planetary nebula, less
than 3 arc minutes in view. Anyway, not a very nice image, but here it is.
