Madera Canyon
 April 18, 2018

For years I've been needing good photos of Cassin's Vireo, but when I find one
something always goes wrong, usually the bird just doesn't cooperate or it is poor light. Today
I found one that posed nicely and at close range.

This one was more than cooperative!

Looks like an assassin bug that it is eating.

My other prize for the day, a Hermit Warbler. Like the Cassin's Vireo, I've
seen many but none that would cooperate. This was a tough
bird to get, they never hold still for very long. I am very happy with this image!

And this one.

And this one too.

Broad-billed Hummingbird on her nest.

Last night I had a visitor in camp, a Virginia opossum. I didn't even know
there were opossums in AZ, it appears that there are some. Some sources
claim they are introduced, others say they are expanding
their range north out of Mexico.

This morning this Northern Pygmy-Owl was feeding on freshly
caught small bird, it looks like a Lincoln's Sparrow to me.

It was in the shade with a bright background so it was tough shooting and processing.
