I tried a new technique today. Instead of chasing the thrashers
around, I picked a likely spot, sat down and covered up in my camo netting, and
waited.
I had some good opportunities, although I had to wait quite awhile! This
Sagebrush Sparrow caught a fly right in front of me.
Sage Thrashers wandered by a couple of times.
This would have been really great except for some grass between me and the
bird.
That's always a problem when photographing birds on the ground while sitting on
the ground.
Sage Thrasher that hopped on a bush, lots of sticks here but still one of
the best photos I have of a Sage Thrasher.
Killed by a monster.
Dragonfly flight shot at Alamo Canyon
(Probably a variegated meadowhawk)
I found this centipede drowned in a pool at Alamo Canyon. My Leatherman is 4
inches long.
Pipevine Swallowtail
Underwing shot of a Sara Orangetip.
Patch-nosed Snake on the Pipeline Road
This grasshopper flew out of a Creosote bush, it was about 4 inches long.
From what I can learn, it is likely Schistocerca nitens - Gray Bird
Grasshopper.
