Some photos from New Mexico and Sunny Flats CG, Chiricahua Mountains, Arizona
September 26, 2018

While at Valley of Fire National Monument, I found this jumping spider in the
Scamp. I caught it in a plastic vial and got this shot.

Here it is on the wall of the Scamp. I identified it on BugGuide.net as Phidippus johnsoni.

This is a Long-nosed Leopard Lizard, or at least part of it. This was a lifer herp for me, but it
was very wary and fast. I saw it run under some brush, so I carefully approached and
could see this much of it in view, I had to use manual focus to get a shot. Maybe I
can find another one someday and get a photo of the entire animal.
I saw it in some sand dunes along the highway from Valley of Fire National Monument.

Lesser Long-nosed Bat. Nectar bats are at Sunny Flats Campground.
