More Black Light Photos from the Ajo Area and a Desert Mouse
October 23, 2018

This is an Arizona Pocket Mouse. I see mice once in a while, usually
running across a road at night, but this time I was able to photograph
one and get it identified.

Once it got used to my flashlight it was fairly easy to photograph.

It seemed to have trouble with ants.

Arizona Pocket Mouse. The white spot below the ear, pale patch
behind the ear, lack of bristles on the tail, and the orangish band on the sides identifies it.

A very small but interesting short-horned grasshopper, I do not know what species yet.

Melacoryphus lateralis, a hemipteran closely related to the Milkweed Bug.

Genus Mecidea - Narrow Stink Bug, can't get it to species according to BugGuide.net
