A Few New Photos from the Ajo Area
November 3, 2018

My lifer snake, a Coral Snake. It was on the dirt road driving out from the Little Ajo Mountains.
I only got two shots and then was trying get zoomed out and it took off. I tried to
stop it but refused to do what I wanted it to do. It got under a creosote
bush and then into a hole. Black head and red bands touching yellow bands clinch the ID.

A Tropical Buckeye, I have seen this species a few times but they are quite uncommon here.

Not uncommon, but I like the photo. A Ceraunus Blue.

This Townsend's Solitaire came in very close. It was taking water from a small depression.

A surprise bird, a Grasshopper Sparrow. Very rare in the Sonoran Desert, in
fact, according to Ebird, there are no records within about 100 miles of Ajo.

The Bark Scorpion from last night. These are small scorpions
but the species with the most potent sting.
