Photos from the Ajo area

Finally got an action shot! Kangaroo Rats kick up a cloud of
dirt when startled to confuse predators. This one has done an about face,
is headed for the hole, and kicked up quite a bit of dirt in the process.
I facilitate this
by scuffing my feet on the ground and shooting at the same time. They are very
fast!
Here it comes back out, looking around for danger.
All clear!
Cut off the tail in what otherwise would be a perfect jumping shot. Cheek
pouches are full of seeds.

The Cone Nebula in Monoceros. In the upper right is Hubble's Variable Nebula.
I've done this before but with 90 second exposures it looks a lot better.
