Buff-collared Nightjar, junction of
California Gulch and Warsaw Canyon
May 14, 2019
Tonight I went back to California Gulch to try one last
time to photograph a Buff-collared Nightjar
and this time I was successful, and quite lucky too. I was there about a week
ago but only
heard one, never saw it. Tonight I got the nightjar on an open branch, perfect
pose, and almost
didn't get focused in time (I have to use a flashlight to get enough light
on the bird to focus)
before it flew off into the dark. I got four good shots. Lifer bird!
