A Day in Alamo Canyon in Organ Pipe Cactus
National Monument
March 8, 2017
Finally, a Great Purple Hairstreak. Usually I see quite a few of these over the
winter, but this is the first one since I got here. Nectaring on Seep Willow.
Black-throated Gray Warbler. First of the spring. Not a great photo but here it
is. I also saw a female Wilson's Warbler, but no photos.
A Zebra-tailed Lizard. One of those rare shots where I captured a glint in the
eye.
My lifer lizard. A Long-tailed Brush Lizard. I was sitting on a rock watching
for birds when I caught movement on a branch. This is my first view of it, note
the light belly, one of the field marks.
It was a wary lizard and fast, but I managed to get at least a few decent shots
showing the long tail and the dorsal markings.
