This is Omega Centauri, a huge star cluster in the constellation Centaurus. It
appears much bigger than the full moon and can be seen in binoculars low in the
south from 2-4 AM (if you live in the south, around 34 degrees north latitude
here, you can't see it in South Dakota). Unfortunately, it is so low in the
south that I have to shoot through most of the atmosphere which doesn't give the
best quality. This is only two frames stacked, I might try more tonight, since
this came out better than I thought it would.
M13, the Great Cluster in Hercules, at a higher altitude than the last time I
shot it.
The Lagoon Nebula on the right and the Trifid Nebula on the left. These are kind
of low too, but I couldn't resist trying. They will be rising higher in the sky
in the coming months along with the core of the Milky Way.
