More Astro Photography in the Ajo, AZ area
March 1, 2017
This is my first attempt at a Milky Way panorama, using 6 frames for a very wide
angle of the sky. Here, a fainter arm of the Milky Way arches from east to west
over Ajo and Child's Mountain. The constellation Orion is in the center and the
brightest star a little left of center is Sirius. I am looking forward to doing
more of this with more interesting foregrounds.
A new one, the Spindle Galaxy, NGC 3115. This galaxy is located in the
constellation Hydra. The Spindle Galaxy is several times bigger than the Milky
Way and about 32 million light years from our solar system.
The Pinwheel Galaxy, M101. This is 80 one minute exposures. Located near the
handle of the Big Dipper.
