Monoceros Region
January 21, 2017
I used the Zeiss 135mm Sonnar lens again tonight. I really like these
widefield images and get some good ideas on where to go someday with the 500mm.
For example, there is a nice reflection nebula in the upper left that I would
have never known about. In this image, the Rosette Nebula dominates the lower
right, in center left is the Cone Nebula, and lots of nebulosity in between.
Hubble's Variable Nebula is barely visible at this focal length. At 500mm, the
Rosette Nebula fills the frame, so this image scale (at 135mm) provides some
context.
