More Astrophotography in the Sonoran Desert
December 4, 2016
M 74 is a beautiful little face-on spiral galaxy,
located in the constellation Pisces. Located 32 million light years
from our galaxy, it is about 95,000 light years in diameter and contains an
estimated 100 billion stars.
I tried the Rosette Nebula again and got the framing a
little better.
I think atmospheric conditions were better last night too. This nebula is about
5000 light years
distance and measures 50 light years in diameter. Our entire solar system would
be far smaller than a pixel in this image.
And the Flaming Star Nebula again, with not better
results. This is a hard one to get any details from.
