Photos from Alamo Canyon in Organ Pipe Cactus National
Monument
April 5, 2017
This female Rufous Hummingbird was going right into the water. I've never seen a
hummingbird do that before. I don't know if it was drinking or eating something.
She did this several times.
A Pacific-slope Flycatcher. Although it did not vocalize to separate it from the
very similar
Cordilleran Flycatcher, the Pacific-slope is far, far more likely to be here in
migration.
A real treat for the day was this Zebra-tailed Lizard in breeding colors. First
time I've been able to
capture this species in breeding colors and it was very cooperative.
It is very hard to get light in the eye of a lizard and I couldn't get it in any
of these.
Ventral view
Clio Tiger Moth from a few days ago. Just got it ID'd from BugGuide.net.
