Bode's Galaxy or M81
February 9, 2016
My last photo of Bode's Galaxy (January 29) was not very good. Last night I took
sixteen thirty second exposures, 1600 ISO at 400mm, and stacked them with Deep
Sky Stacker.
Much better results. There are four galaxies in this frame, Bode's Galaxy in the
center, the Cigar Galaxy to the right, and two others that I can't name right
now. This is nearly full frame, slightly cropped. Bode's Galaxy is nearly
12,000,000 light years from planet Earth, it is about 90,000,000 light years in
diameter and contains around 250 billion stars.
